"The only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs
Oliver Spinks is an Articling Student at the Vancouver office of MacLean Law and is expected to qualify as a lawyer in British Columbia in 2023.
In 2015 Oliver obtained his LLB law degree from the University of Staffordshire in England. He recently received a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation to complete his Canadian equivalency examinations.
Prior to joining MacLean Law, Oliver worked in the family law department at one of the most prestigious Barrister Chambers in England.
During the past four years, Oliver has worked alongside Lorne N. MacLean K.C, one of Canada’s leading family law lawyers, as his paralegal. He has worked on various complex and precedent-setting family matters in the B.C. Supreme Court and B.C. Court of Appeal. Oliver has also assisted in the preparation of mediations and negotiations to achieve the best possible outcome for clients.
Oliver’s experience in family law aspects includes divorce, separation, financial settlement, children matters and pre-nuptial agreements. He is determined to provide compassionate and informed legal advice to all clients. He believes in equal representation for everyone, especially the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and he knows firsthand the complexities of same-sex couples’ relationship matters. Oliver understands that every case is different. He takes the time to get to know his clients to best advocate for them in their family law matters.
When Oliver is not focusing on his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and Italian Greyhound, Norman, and hiking in the mountains.
