I care, therefore I am. Tell me your story, let us protect and advocate for your best interests to move forward from a difficult situation."
Sunny Chiu is a lawyer at MacLean Law’s Vancouver office who has also enjoyed career successes as a journalist and a public relations consultant. As a strong believer in both kindness and competence, Sunny cares for his clients and is never afraid to step up and make your voices heard when it matters, be it in front of a judge in court or during negotiations for settlement.
Applying his legal and practical work experiences, Sunny combines both energy and strategy to his work, as he strives to meet your legal needs and advocate for your best interests. Sunny listens and carefully plans your legal arguments with a pragmatic approach, before turning to the strong public speaking skills he has developed in news-reporting, communications and politics. As a former TV host, Sunny has presented tough and challenging questions to former BC Premier Christy Clark during his 1 on 1 interview with her, a week before the 2013 BC election.
Sunny has appeared in both the B.C. Supreme Court and in the B.C. Provincial Court. Sunny is passionate about helping his clients, and is ready to tackle complex issues and resolve your matters involving separation, divorce, asset and property division, spousal support, child support or parenting arrangements. During his spare time, Sunny completed and received certification on Family Violence Screening Training for Litigators and Dispute Resolution Professionals. The training helps direct families to appropriate processes that address safety concerns and power imbalances.
Outside of work, Sunny stays actively involved in the Vancouver community and has maintained excellent relationships with all the teams and organizations that he has worked with.
Sunny Chiu trains at the gym regularly, and sees it as a challenge to bring out his best and maintain his focus, determination and discipline. Sunny is also a big soccer fan, and is a childhood supporter of Arsenal FC in England. He also plays badminton and enjoys road trips, hiking and jet skiing during summer.
Fluent in written and oral Mandarin and Cantonese, Sunny provides additional value to his legal work by applying his language and cross-cultural communication skills to both the law firm and his clients.
