GET TO KNOW AMALIA
Amalia works in the family law group at MacLean Law. With her empathetic and supportive approach, she helps her clients navigate through the legal system and challenging life transitions.
One of Amalia’s favourite quotes is from George Eliot: “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” Through her family law practice, Amalia enables her clients to achieve new beginnings, irrespective of the past. She empowers people to regain control of their lives and move forward.
Her desire to improve the circumstances of others has led her to volunteer with various organizations over the past several years. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the WISH Drop-in Centre Society. WISH provides essential services and resources to women involved in the survival sex-trade in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Amalia has also represented clients before the Mental Health Review Board for Access Pro Bono and has volunteered with Coast Mental Health and the Victoria Cool Aid Society.
She is a native Vancouverite who never ceases to be grateful for the natural beauty of this city. When she is not working, you will find Amalia in nature and amongst the trees, including the forests and mountains of the North Shore, which is where she calls home. Amalia takes every opportunity she can to be outside; she is an avid hiker, biker, yogi and tree-hugger.
Amalia has a passion for travelling. She has travelled to South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. She traveled solo on her trips to Africa and Asia.
“I love travelling on my own, because you’re never on your own – you meet so many amazing people and find your way into the most incredible and unexpected situations. You never know who you will meet or what you will be able to explore.”
While in Africa, Amalia camped for two months, where she witnessed the most amazing starlit night skies and kept the company of passing elephants.
