In today’s blog, our BC Immigration lawyers department will introduce to you the BC Provincial Nominee Program (“BC PNP”), which is an alternative option for candidates who may not have a high enough score to be invited under the Federal Express Entry system (which we will go over in our next immigration to Vancouver blog). So how does The BC Provincial Nominee Program work?

BCPNP is a provincial nomination program that focuses on supporting high-demand foreign workers and experienced entrepreneurs to obtain permanent residency in BC. Such a program has been in place since 2001. Our The BC Provincial Nominee Program can help you move here.

BC PNP offers three pathways to become a provincial nominee in BC: Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC, and Entrepreneur Immigration. Today we will be going over the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC programs.

Processing Time (PNP Only): 2-3 months
Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC – Comparison of Minimum Requirements

Eligible Employers

For programs where a job offer from an employer is required, the supporting employer will need to meet the following requirements for The BC Provincial Nominee Program:

  • Be established as an employer in good standing in B.C.
  • The business has been operating for at least one year
  • Have certain permanent, full-time employees
  • Have a history of good workplace and business practices
  • Meet domestic recruitment requirement

Procedure of BC PNP registration and application process

The applicant needs to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for a BC PNP stream (e.g. Skills Immigration – International Graduate) and register an online BC PNP profile. Once the registration for The BC Provincial Nominee Program has been submitted, you would be allocated a registration score (except for the International Post-Graduate program). BC PNP will conduct bi-weekly draws to invite certain numbers of candidates from the selection pool of your category to submit an application. Upon receiving the invitation, a candidate has 30 days to prepare and submit the application.

Registration scoring

Your registration score will be based on the information regarding both the economic and human capital factors that you have provided. The maximum score is 200.
